Hong Kong : ‘let’s Go Summer 2008′ Successful for Fashion Access
alexda asked:
Fashion Access, the largest international trade fair for handbags, travelware, footwear, leather and fur garments, and fashion accessories in Asia, was held on 3-5 October 2007, in Hong Kong.
The theme was on the forthcoming season with the slogan ‘Let’s Go Summer 2008′.
The event attracted exhibitors from Europe, the Americas and throughout Australasian.
There were 86 first-time exhibitors (always important for buyers seeking something completely new) from Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Ireland, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom. A greatly expanded handbag section accommodated the wide variety of handbag specialisation in the industry: such as sports, classic and party. Buyers were able to view an even greater range offered by suppliers from all over the world.
The well-established ‘Best of APLF Awards’ again attracted strong competition among exhibitors. A series of seminars covered topics such as visual merchandising for exhibitors; future fashion trends and – what some believe may be the next ‘big thing’ – eco-friendly fashion: with an emphasis on how it can be both fashionable and commercial.
Over the three days Fashion Access welcomed 6,238 buyers, from 63 countries and regions. Significant interest was shown by new buyers from Korea and Thailand: each recorded growth of 32%, followed by visitors from The Philippines and Japan with 27% and 10% growth respectively.
In keeping with the steady development of Fashion Access over the years more resources and facilities have been added to assist buyers (and exhibitors too) forecast emerging trends in materials, colours and designs. The Materials Trends Lounge proved invaluable while the new StyleCast enabled selected exhibitors to display their latest designs to a wide audience.
Fashion Access was held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Wanchai – the hub of Hong Kong’s vibrant commercial and entertainment district.
Click here to read about Buyers’ Comments, Exhibitors’ Comments:
The next Fashion Access will be held in Hong Kong. It will run concurrently with APLF – Materials, Manufacturing & Technology. Events not to be missed!
The theme will focus on the forthcoming season of winter 20008/09. So,’Let’s Get Ready for Fashion Access Winter 2008/09′.

Outsourcing To Philippines Is Efficient
Raymond Le Blanc asked:
Outsourcing to Philippines may be a new endeavor to some companies, but to those that have been into outsourcing before, outsourcing to Philippines has helped them a lot. It has helped them in terms of financial matters. Outsourcing to Philippines have been helpful enough that some companies have been able to expand their business due to the fact that outsourcing to Philippines saves them from high spending. Studies have also shown that working with the Filipinos have not failed the companies since the workers are very efficient and have been helpful enough to the company.
For the new comers of the outsourcing industry, I would just like to state some facts with regards to outsourcing in the Philippines and how the workers are.
Filipinos are very good in coping and adapting to the work force. They are not the kind of people who usually complain with the tasks handed to them. They also do not find it hard to adapt the culture of the company they are dealing with. This is probably because they have been used to adapting to cultures when they were being colonized by some other countries. It has been common to them the other cultures such as the cultures of Spain, Japan and America. That is why if you are an American company, outsourcing to Philippines will not be that difficult for you. Adjusting to them is not a problem too!
Outsourcing to Philippines will not be that difficult especially if it deals with personal relations tasks. Filipinos have been good in communicating and relating with other people. They have been noted to be good at this. They treat the people with respect which is why they are highly known to be friendly and hospitable.
Also, sending across your ideas, plans, needs and want will not be difficult once you are outsourcing to Philippines. This is because the Philippines have been known to be the number English speaking country in Asia and holds the highest literacy rate too. Knowing these facts, it will not be difficult then as they can, in any way, understand what you mean. Communication will not be a barrier and therefore, with proper and very good communication, outsourcing to Philippines will help you achieve your goal in a short period of time.
Heartbreaking News About Hemorrhoids
Sharon Bell asked:
If there’s one problem most people won’t take sitting down, it’s hemor¬rhoids. They’re itchy, pain¬ful, and annoying. They’re also a lot more common than you think.
The French emperor Napo¬leon had hemorrhoids which led to his downfall at Water¬loo. Because he was in so much pain, he couldn’t mount his horse to survey the battlefield. This prevented him from getting a clear view of the situation and cost him his empire.
Former Japanese Prime Minister Fumimaro Komoye also suffered from hemorrhoids and was unable to attend an important cabinet meeting where a United States peace proposal was to be discussed. His absence eventually led to Japan’s entry into World War II.
Statistics show that about half of all Americans or four out of five people have hemorrhoids. Many others are unaware of this mainly because there are no symptoms.
“About 15 to 20 percent of the population have hemorrhoids. That’s probably at the low end of my speculation. By experience, however, I see a lot of people with hemorrhoids,” according to Dr. Ed T. Corpus Jr., a general and vascular surgeon at the Vein Care Clinic at Ferosa Condominium in Manila.
Hemorrhoids or piles are varicose veins of the rec¬tum. They usually appear after the age of 30 and are more common in women than in men. They can be found either inside or outside the **** canal. External hemorrhoids protrude and are visible. They’re also painful since they’re located in one of the body’s most sensitive areas – the skin in and around the ****. Internal hemorrhoids, on the other hand, can’t be seen and are often painless since there are no nerve endings where they’re at.
“There’s a specific line of distinction or demarcation at the **** region. It’s called the pectinate line and it separates the veins. Those that originate below that line are classified as external hemorrhoids. Those that are above it are called internal hemorrhoids,” explained Corpus who trained in New York and Philadelphia.
What causes the rectal veins to become swollen and inflamed? Aging appears to be a factor in the development of hemorrhoids. As we grow older, the blood vessels and connective tissue in the lower rectum become looser and weaker, gradually descending toward the ****.
This is further aggravated by chronic constipation (which is common in those who lack dietary fiber and don’t consume plenty of fluids), bad habits such as postponing bowel habits, straining during elimination, and recurrent diarrhea – all of which put a lot of pressure on the veins.
Who are more susceptible to hemorrhoids? Find out in the second part of this series. Don’t miss it!
